Why Islam Do What They Did?

things like hacking thief's hands, jihad fisabilillah, killing the apostates, stoning/whipping the fornicators, hitting the wife, etc etc…

Yes we've heard all about it; these so-called "radical" laws and actions in Islam. Although it is still interesting to note that this so-called radical religion, still manages to get to third place in the world's biggest religions. Why then are people still attracted to this religion, and why then are the muslims still mostly OK with it? (meaning that they don't left the religion, and still practicing it)

The reason I write this letter (yes, its a letter for you), is to try my best to explain "why Islam do what they did". InsyaAllah (God's willing), I'm going to try to explain it step-by-step, so that you'll understand the mentality of a muslim. And then perhaps after that, insyaAllah, you'll understand why we like to cut the thief's hand for example

(note: Allah means God, in english language. In arabic language, God means Allah. So if I use the word Allah, I'm not talking about some weird jaguar god or something. Its the God we all know)

Reason 1: Its From God, Not Us

Please allow me to ask you a question:

What is a characteristic of a TRUE religion?

Right, lets compare our answers. In my humble opinion, the characteristic of a true religion is:

1. The religion MUST BE FROM GOD.

You might want to read it again, so it is absolutely clear. The characteristic of a true religion, is that it MUST BE FROM GOD, OR ALLAH.

Why? Because if its not, then its not a religion. It is simply a made-up belief system.

A religion is an act of worship. Its an act of worship to Allah. So for such an important act, we got to have an approval from Allah.

Why the heck that we exhaust ourselves with all these worship services, if we don't know that Allah approve it or not? As a muslim for example, why the heck do I have to pray 5 times a day, fast for 30 days in ramadhan, pay zakat, spend 10s of thousands of dollars to go to Hajj in Makkah, etc etc? Why the heck do I need to do all these things?

Yeees, we muslims got God's approval. Not just approval, His very orders. He orders us to do all these. In Islam, the muslim believes that Allah send a message through His Rasulullah (messenger of Allah) to mankind, which is called "Al-Quran".

Yes Al-Quran is a message from God Allah to you, and to all mankind. Of course you shouldn't take my word for it; go and inspect and read the Quran.

I firmly believe you won't be able to do it, because Allah said in His Quran, that that is His guidance. Which means, He will guide you to the truth, when you read the Al-Quran.

Whether you like it or not, your heart will recognize that this Quran really is from Allah, and Islam is the one true religion, after you've read the Al-Quran. You are then left with a choice to oppose Islam and Allah, or to join the ranks of muslims.

Because you see, a standard human will highly likely choose NOT to do things that Islam demands. We know this, because most people in the world are oppose to Islam, right? We also know that a lot of (so-called) muslims are opposed to many of Islamic teachings.

It is understandable. If possible we muslims want to drink wine too, play strip poker too, go to whores houses too, and eat pork too.

But unlike other religions that created their laws using their logic and moral thinkings, the laws and actions of Islam came from God. We can understand the benefits from some of the laws (laws like its forbidden to drink wine in Islam), because we know the harms of wine. But there're some laws in Islam that is beyond our capacity as humans to understand.

In Islam, Allah teaches us to "believe" in Him, to trust Him. Believe that He is God. And as God, He is of infinite knowledge and wisdom (He is God after all). And we as humans with very small amount of knowledge and experience, cannot possibly comprehend the depth and vastness of knowledge that a God has. Heck, He is the One that created us, created this universe, and created things that mankind are still struggling to understand. And as the One that created the law to govern human lives, He knows what is best for all of us. As our Creator, He understands us most.

So as I said in reason 1 above, that everything in Islam came from God, or Allah. We DO NOT made up all these things. If you do not believe this, go and read the whole Al-Quran. It is the guidance from Allah, and one of His greatest proof that He is indeed the one true God. InsyaAllah, your own heart will recognize it once you've read it. There's no need for other proofs.

Reason 2: We Do Not Have Any Choice

Second characteristic of a true religion…

2. The religion SHOULD NOT GIVE MANKIND ANY CHOICE, IN IMPORTANT MATTERS.

As God who sends down the religion, should He give mankind choices?

Let me share some characteristics of a true God:

- God is the creator of all things

- the owner of all things

- the King of all things

- the manager of all things

- none has the power to challenge His authority. He is the Very Greatest, Most Wise.

If a God does not have these attributes, he does not entitled to be called God.

Now, as the King of all things, does Allah give choices?

Of course He does; in smaller matters such as what food we can eat, what clothes we can wear, etc etc.

But what of BIG & IMPORTANT matters?

Matters like, is it ok for us to choose other religion than the religion He approves? Or is it ok for us to worship cows, or monkeys, or elephants, or any other things besides Him?

Ok, please imagine that you're a king, in a certain country of your choice. Is it ok for your people to abandon you and join some other kings? Is is ok for them to break your laws, or do anything without your approval?

Of course not. You're probably going to hang them, or burn them for their acts of betrayal. You are the king, how dare they.

Now, Allah is undoubtedly the King of this universe, and everything inside it. And as a God, He alone has the full right to be worshipped by all of His creations, including us mankind.

Allah alone deserves to be worshipped, and nothing else. He is the King of the universe, and our Creator. He is also the Creator of every living things. Who else has the right but Him?

This is THE MOST IMPORTANT MATTER for us to understand. Worshipping others besides Allah is THE GREATEST SIN a man can do!

God created us, created this whole universe, the solar system, the world, all the things that made life possible for us and comfortable for us……and we suddenly go and worship something else?

You're a king for example. You prepared all good things for your people to enjoy, and for your people to live in peace and harmony. You also protected them from any harms, by preparing solid defense and solid medical system in your country.

But suddenly, the people revolt against you! They want some other guy to replace you. The weird thing is, they want it without any good excuses (because you have been a very good and caring leader).

You might find those people ungrateful and evil, but hey, this are the very acts that most people do to Allah.

Allah. He has prepared all the good things for mankind to benefit from, keeping the people healthy despite the many germs we produce, continuously bring down rain to bring life back to the dead lands, which then grows farm produces for our food and fresh water for our drinks.

Yet most people worship others besides Him. Others that bring absolutely NO BENEFIT whatsoever to us mankind, and also cannot harm us whatsoever. Worse, they worship something that they created using their own two hands (wooden/stone idols, etc). Should'nt a creator be worshipped by His creation, and not the other way around? A carpenter does not worship the chairs that he made.

Allah gave us the mind, which mankind has used to achieve great things, technologically. But more importantly, He gave us the mind so that we can use it to see and understand the universe (and everything in it), as signs of His Greatness, Wisdom, Mercy, and all His other attributes of greatness. Also equally important, the sign that He, God, really does exists.

So as I've said in reason 2, that we the muslims do not have any choice but to follow Allah's rules, as He is God, and have absolute right to be obeyed. We can explain the rules to you for better understanding (rules that some people call "radical" yes), but God still must be obeyed. If not, just as a king that punishes their people's bad behaviour, Allah will throw us into hellish punishments in His Hell, and we will be far removed from His Paradise.

And if you still doubt that Islam is the one true religion from God, I highly highly recommend reading the Al-Quran. It is THE MESSAGE from God to you and to all mankind, and His guidance. InsyaAllah, your own heart will recognize that this Quran is from God, there's no need for other proofs.
